YEMEN PRODUCES OVER 60,000 TONS OF FISH SINCE JANUARY



Sana'a, Oct. 24, (Saba) - Yemen's production of fish has increased
since January 2009 to reach about 63,000 tons at an estimated cost
of YR 12 billion, compared to 55,248 tons at the same period in 2008
by an increase ratio of 14 percent, the state-run 26sep.net has
reported.

Fish wealthy in Yemen is going high in January -September 2009 to
almost 63 thousand ton at the price 12 billion compared to the last
year.

A statistical report issued by Ministry of Fisheries showed that
the traditional fishing production has increased during the same
period to 614,000 tons compared to 54,086 tons during the same
period in 2008 by an increase ratio of 12 percent.

Regarding the artificial fishing, the fish quantities have raised to
1621 tons compared to 1116 tons during 2008 by an increase of 40
percent, the reported added.

The reported mentioned that Mahrah governorate came on the top of
the governorates' list with 18,536 tons for a total cost of YR 3.264
billion.
