SOME 25 FILMS TO BE SHOWN IN BALI INT'L FILM FESTIVAL



Denpasar, Bali, Oct 25 ANTARA) - Some 25 movies from 13 countries will be shown in the Bali International Film Festival on October 20-25, 2009.

Assistant Public Relations Manager of the festival Devina Hindom in a press release received here on Saturday disclosed that the 25 films produced in Indonesia and abroad are documentaries, short stories and childrens' movies.

"Among the films to be shown to the public is 'Mary and Max'. It is written and directed by Adam Elliot, an Academy Awardee for 'Harvie Krumpet'," Davina said.

The first Bali International Festival was held in 2007 by the Bali Film Center to provide opportunities for international filmmakers to enter Indonesian market.

The event is also expected to provide an opportunity for foreign and national films to express their unique culture, ideas and diverse locations for international film-making.

"The Balinale also provides an opportunity for Indonesian film makers to present their work and expand their network with international filmmakers," he said.

Davina said the Bali International Film Festival will give awards based on the viewers' choice for the best film category as a whole, best feature film, best documentary and best short film.

Among the films to be shown in the festival are Princess of Africa (Spain), Morning of the Earth, Mary and Max (Australia), Coffee and Allah (New Zealand), Snaked: A Moroccan Adventure, Valentino: The last emperor, Oh My God, and Inglourious Bastards (US).

The other films are Tokyo Sonata (Japan), Together, White, Hush Baby and Dirty Bitch (Singapore), Kanchivaram (India), El Sistema (Venezuela), Flower in the Pocket (Malaysia), Il Divo (Italy), Fais Comme Chez Toi and Banlieue 13-ultimatum (France) and Reaching Dreams, New Couple, Draupadi, Blood & Milk, Blood and Incense (Indonesia).
