DELEGATION HEADS TO BRUSSELS FOR EU-YEMEN DIALOG MEETING

SANA'A, Oct. 26 (Saba) - A Yemeni delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi flew on Monday for Brussels.

The visit is aimed at taking part in the EU-Yemen Political Dialogue meeting which will start next Wednesday.

The four-day meeting will review the EC-funded developmental programs in Yemen over 2007-2010 as well as underlining the EC Yemen support during 2011-2013, al-Arhabi said.

The meeting will seek an increase to the EC aid for Yemen to face obstacles and accelerate development and comprehensive reforms, he said.

At the end of the meeting, the final statement including the country support program of Yemen over 2011-2013 would be signed.

On the margins of the meeting, al-Arhabi will meet with a number of EC officials to discuss the bilateral relationship between Yemen and the European Commission, he said.

A technical workshop to discuss political, economic and financial issues related to the investment climate in Yemen would be held as well, he added.

The commission provides € 20 million in aid for Yemen every three years and the aid is expected to increase in the future.
