S. Korea to launch English version of statistical service
SEOUL, Oct. 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will launch the English version of a
service this week that will help foreigners find statistics and other data
customized to their daily life more easily than before, officials said Monday.
The National Statistical Office (NSO) said in a statement that it will start
providing the language support for its service named "Explore Yourself through
Statistics" on Tuesday, through which users can find customized national data on
a broad range of areas based on their age, gender, height, weight and other
personal information.
Foreigners could access the site at http://kosis.kr where they should click
"English" on the upper right of the main page and click the banner message
located in the middle, the NSO explained.
The service launch coincides with the start of a four-day forum on Tuesday which
is jointly organized by the statistics agency and the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development in the southeast port city of Busan.
The forum is aimed at finding ways to accurately gauge the extent of economic
growth and development, which can apply both to advanced and developing
countries.
