Seoul stocks down 0.94 pct in late morning

SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.94 percent lower late Tuesday morning, weighed down by overnight U.S. market losses and institutional investors' profit taking, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 15.5 points to
trade at 1,641.61 as of 11:20 a.m.
Domestic shares tracked Wall Street tumbles on Monday after a stronger U.S.
dollar pressured commodities stocks including energy firms. The Down Jones
industrial average fell 1.05 percent with the tech-laden Nasdaq shedding 0.59
percent.
Net selling by institutional investors also weighed the local market as they
scrambled to pocket profits from Monday's rallies.
The local currency was trading at 1,189.15 won against the U.S. dollar as of
11:20 a.m., down 11.35 won from Monday's close.
