Hyundai Engineering Q3 profit falls 16.8 pct
SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., South Korea's biggest construction firm, said Tuesday its third-quarter net profit fell 16.8 percent from a year ago as the economic slump slashed orders for new apartments.
Hyundai Heavy earned 103.5 billion won (US$87.3 million) in the July-September
period, the company said in a statement.
Third-quarter operation profit, however, rose 3 percent from a year ago to 126.2
billion won. Sales gained 29.9 percent to 2.35 trillion won.
In the first nine months of this year, Hyundai Engineering's operating profit
declined 11.9 percent from a year ago to 357.4 billion won.
For all of 2009, Hyundai Engineering aims to post an operating profit of 462.6
billion won on sales of 8.02 trillion won.
