YEMEN SENTENCES 4 TO DEATH, 11 TO PRISON

SANA'A, Oct. 27 (Saba) - Yemen handed down on Tuesday death
sentences to four subversives after convicting them of forming
an armed gang to fight the troops in support for the Houthi
insurgents.

The State Penal Court also sentenced 11 others to jail terms ranging
form 5 to 15 years.

The convicted were all members of one of the Bani Hushaish groups,
named after the district they come from, accused of supporting the
rebels.

The verdict comes within a series of rulings against the groups
tried over fighting the army in the district of Bani Hushaish in
Sana'a.

So far this month, 12 subversives were sentenced to death and 15
others were given jail terms ranging from 8 to 15 years.

In July, Yemen sentenced 10 Houthi supporters to death and 11 to
jail terms.

The sentenced were convicted of forming armed gangs and
fighting the troops in support for the insurgents.

They were also convicted of attacking the people and looting their
properties.
