TRIAL OF 10 NEW MEMBERS OF BANI HUSHEISH GANG BEGINS



SANA'A, Oct.27 (Saba) - Primary Specialized Penal Court in the
capital Sana'a started Tuesday a trial of 10 new members of Bani
Husheish armed gang.

In the session presided over by Judge Muhsen Alwan, the court
listened to the prosecution's accusation document against the
accused included charges of forming an armed gang for carrying out
collective crimes during the period from 2004 until June 9th 2006.

The prosecution accused the gang elements of drawing plans to kill,
bomb and carry out sabotage acts as well as endangering the
society's security and stability.

The document clarified that the suspects have prepared the necessary
equipment of heavy and small arms, ammunitions, rockets and grenades.

Furthermore, they collected funds for support and prepared means of
transport, locations and shields in Bani Husheish district at Sana'a
governorate and around.

Those acts resulted in killing and injuring a number of security
forces personnel and innocent citizens, sabotaging and looting some
military equipment, the prosecution's document clarified.

As the prosecutor read the charge reasons and the list of evidences,
the court decided adjournment to next Tuesday to discuss the
evidences.

On the other hand, the State Penal Court passed also on Tuesday
death sentences to four subversives of another group of Bani
Husheish after convicting them of forming an armed gang to fight the
troops in support for the Houthi insurgents, in addition to
sentencing 11 others to jail terms ranging form 5 to 15 years.

The convicted were all members of one of the Bani Hushaish groups,
named after the district they come from, accused of supporting the
rebels.

So far this month, 12 subversives were sentenced to death and 15
others were given jail terms ranging from 8 to 15 years.

In July, Yemen sentenced 10 Houthi supporters to death and 11 to
jail terms.

Bani Husheish district of Sana'a governorate has witnessed last year
sabotage and criminal acts resulted in killing a number of the
district citizens and the army individuals by outlaw elements.
