Nozette was president and treasurer of the non-profit
Alliance for Competitive Technology, which carried out
contractual work for NASA and the Department of Defence from
2000 to 2006.

According to court papers, The Post said Nozette
admitted that he used the over billed money -- USD 265,000 --
to help pay personal credit card bills, car loans and
maintenance costs for his swimming pool.
As the court case went into its advance stage, he
faced the prospect of at least two years in prison under
federal sentencing guidelines, the daily said, following which
he apparently made such a threat before one of his colleague,
who promptly informed the FBI.
The FBI thereafter launched a sting operation. Months
later the FBI agent was meeting with Nozette and exchanging
cash for information through a US post office box, the charge
sheet says. In its complaint the FBI charged him of spying for
Israel; and an unnamed country, which is being code-worded as
'Country A' in the 18 page charge sheet.
According to the affidavit, Nozette had been under
investigation for some time. In early January 2009 as he
travelled overseas, a security check of his personal bags
indicated he had two computer thumb drives in his possession;
yet, when he returned on his trip, the drives were no longer
in his possession, the affidavit said.
Before his travel to a unnamed foreign country,
identified as 'country A' Nozette informed an unnamed
colleague of his that if the US ever tried to put him in jail,
he would move from the United States to Israel or foreign
country A and "tell them everything" he knows. PTI LKJ
