Yemen, IMF to boost cooperation
SANA'A, Oct. 27 (Saba)- Minister of Finance Numan al-Suhaibi held talks on Tuesday with a delegation of the International Monetary
Fund (IMF) over cooperation areas between the fund and Yemen, particularly implementation of the IMF article No. 4 on investment.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed efforts of the financial, economic and
administrative reforms carried out by the Yemeni government as well as the outcomes
of those
efforts, in addition to the role of the donor countries and organizations for the
sake of success of these reforms.
He renewed Yemen's concern to implement reforms adopted by the government in its
national agenda to improve living standards and reduce poverty through encouraging
financial
policies for growth and the private sector investment.
For their part, the IMF delegation valued efforts exerted by the Yemeni government
in order to implement reforms they adopted in the national agenda, affirming
readiness
of the Fund to continue offering support for executing these reforms.
The delegation pointed out to the importance of the Yemeni government to take
required procedures in order to reinforce a mechanism for connecting priorities of
its policies
with development plans as well as reinforcing non-oil resources.
