'Positives and negatives' as big number of CSOs announced
SANA'A, Oct. 27 (Saba) - The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said on Tuesday that there are 7000 civil society organizations in Yemen until this year, adding the big number has positives and
negatives.
At the opening of a training course on boosting Support Attraction Skills
organized
by the Human Rights Information and Training Center HRITC, Deputy of the ministry
Ali Saleh Abdullah said among the positives this number holds is that it is a sign
of democracy…a
strengthened democracy. And among the negatives, he said, are that most of the
organizations lack many important foundation factors and common disputes among the
leaderships
of these organizations. Honoring 100 organizations, the deputy urged to deepen
volunteer work for the organizations, saying they are a key development partner of
the government.
He also urged them to move across the republic as they remain in need for public,
official and international support so that they stand on their own feet. Touching
upon the
amendments to the society law, he said that the law is in Parliament and the
Workforce Committee in the council is conducting dialogues with the organizations
over it. The
amendments come after discussions with many organizations, he said, making clear
that the aim of the amendments is to include some discipline regulations in the best
interest
of nation. FR
