Indian-Americans invite PM to Dallas – the Bush hometown

Washington, Oct 27 (PTI) The Indian-American community
in Dallas – the home town of former US President George W Bush
– in the Southern American State of Texas have invited Indian
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit the city when he comes
to Washington on his state visit next month.

"We extend an invitation to Prime Minister Singh to
visit not only his friend (Bush) in Dallas during his upcoming
trip to Washington but also over hundred thousand strong
Indian-American community," eminent Indian American and
Dallas-based community leader Ashok Mago, said.
Though Prime Minister's programme is still being
finalised, it is rarely that an Indian Prime Minister has gone
out of the traditional two cities of New York and Washington
during their trip to the US. Last month, Singh visited
Pittsburgh in Philadelphia to attend the G-20 Summit.
Mago, who heads the India-US forum, asked the Prime
Minister to visit other major cities in US beside Washington
and New York, saying the huge Indian American community has
been living in other parts of the country as well.
"Dallas should be on the top of that list because not
only the crucial role it played in successful conclusion of
Indo-US civil nuclear co-operation agreement but also Dallas
Metroplex is home to 25 fortune 500 companies," said Mago.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to host Bush for a
dinner in New Delhi when the latter visits the city to address
The Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. After leaving the white
house this will be his first speech to an audience in India.
