India to go further with int community on climate change: Prez

London, Oct 28 (PTI) Indian President Pratibha Patil has
said India is making "all efforts within its resources" to
deal with climate change and is keen to "go further" with the
international community in combating the problem.
In an interaction Tuesday with Nick Clegg, the leader
of Liberal Democrats, the third-largest party in British
Parliament, she said the solution in the realm of climate
change should be "comprehensive, balanced and equitable".
The President informed Clegg of the Indian position of
"common and differentiated responsibilities and respective
capabilities" on the issue of tackling climate change.
Patil, who is the first Indian head of state to travel to
the United Kingdom in the last two decades, said India would
follow the principle by making efforts for sustainable
development and improving the living standards of the people.
She said India hopes for successful outcome of
international deliberations on climate change, including the
United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in
December this year.
"It is considerably important sphere for India and we
are making all efforts within our own resources," she said
while explaining to him the National Action Plan on Climate
Change and eighth National Mission which includes the aspects
of mitigation and adaption. More PTI SKL
