OIC Secretary General strongly condemns Baghdad twin bombings

Jeddah, October 28, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, vigorously condemned in a letter addressed to Nouri Al-Maliki, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, the heinous
terrorist twin bombings in Baghdad on 25th October, 2009.

The pair of bombings
targeted government buildings, killing and wounding hundreds of innocent Iraqis.

Professor Ekmeleddine Ihsanoglu also denounced the abominable terrorist operations
that unceasingly target innocent civilians and seek to spread panic and hatred
among innocent Iraqis. "These terrorist acts also seek to undermine national
reconciliation efforts, hamper the work of constitutional institutions, and turn
Iraq into a breeding ground for terrorism".

The Secretary General extended his condolences to the families of the victims of
the twin bombings that hit Baghdad and to the government and the Iraqi people,
wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

He urged the Iraqi people to commit to their country's national unity, security and
stability and support its constitutional institutions, according to a press release
issued by the OIC yesterday.
