JAKARTA STOCKS RISE ON WALL STREET GAINS
Jakarta, Oct. 30 (ANTARA) - Indonesian stocks at the BEI (Indonesian Stock Exchange) rose in Friday morning trading on overnight gains on Wall Street.
The BEI index went up 36.840 points or 1.57 percent to 2,380.590 points and the LQ-45 index surged 7.976 points or 1.74 percent to 467.604 points).
External positive sentiment bolstered the Indonesian stocks to soar, according to Alfiansyah, a stock broker of PT Sinarmas Securities.
Wall Street gained after better-than-expected U.S. data showed the world`s largest economy grew at its fastest pace for two years from July to September.
In early afternoon trading in New York, the Dow Jones industrial average index surged 1.6 percent to 9,918.37 and the Standard & Poor`s 500 index added 1.8 percent to 1,061.75.
At regional bourses, Japanese stocks rose in Friday morning trading on overnight gains on Wall Street. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose back above the psychologically important 10,000 barrier just one day after falling below it, gaining 124.18 points, or 1.26 per cent, to stand at 10,015.28.
At the BEI, investors bought small-cap shares. Among the top gainers were Telkom shares which rose Rp150 to Rp8,400, Bank BRI shares advanced Rp150 to Rp7,300, Bank Danamon shares added Rp100 to Rp4,525 per saham. Indah Tembaga Mega shares surged Rp900 to Rp21,750 and Bukit Asam shares gained Rp150 to Rp15,450.***2***
