S. Korea's direct financing jumps 76 pct in Sept

.
SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's direct financing surged 76.5 percent in
September from the previous month as companies sold more stocks and bonds to
raise funds, the financial watchdog said Friday.
Local firms and banks raised a total of 11.3 trillion won (US$9.5 billion) by
selling stocks and bonds last month, compared with 6.4 trillion won in August,
according to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
Sales of new stocks more than doubled to 1.7 trillion won last month from 814
billion won the previous month, as companies scrambled to take advantage of stock
market rallies, the FSS said.
Bond issuances also sharply rose to 9.6 trillion won from 5.6 billion won in
August, it said.
