OIC concerned about situation in Yemen, says Oglu
SANA'A, Oct. 30 (Saba) - Secretary
General of the Organization of Islamic Conference Akmaluddin Ihsan Oglu said on
Friday
that the OIC supports a stable and unified Yemen, warning against inflaming
sectarianism in the country. Arriving in Sana'a for a few-day visit, Oglu said the
OIC is closely
watching the situation in Yemen with concern about the current events. The visit is
mainly aimed at showing a full-scale support to Yemen's unity and sovereignty, he
said.
Oglu is meeting Yemeni officials to discuss the bilateral relationship between Yemen
and the organization. The talks will raise the role of the OIC in setting up camps
to
shelter the refugees in the north as the army continues to battle the Houthi
insurgents. The Houthis have been fighting the troops in Saada and Amran since 2004.
The delegation
accompanying Oglu will visit the refugee camps and assess their condition to report
on them to the 57 members of the OIC, he said. Yemen is a founding member of the
OIC,
hence the organization is concerned about its stability and likes that Yemen keeps
its role within it, he concluded. FR
