YEMEN SHOULD DO MORE TO BOOST TOURISM, EX-GERMAN ENVOY

FRANKFORT, Oct. 31 (Saba) – Former German ambassador to Yemen
Frank Marcus Mann has suggested that Yemen boost its tourism
promotion campaigns, even if the circumstances were not in the side
of tourism at a time when tourism faces problems worldwide.

On the margins of the Yemeni tourist days in Frankfort which come
within a Europe tourism promotion campaign targeting four states,
Mann said the most important thing to help Yemen and its tourism is
that Yemen be stable and secured and that nothing of the past events
takes place again.

According to my expertise in Yemen, Yemen has a distinguished
tourism, but the country does not receive large numbers of visitors
due to its modest capabilities, he said.

However, Yemen can develop its tourism and attract more visitors and
this can be through expanding the tourism infrastructure in the
country, through improving hotels and other tourist services, he
said.

Yemen started on October 18 a Europe tourism promotion campaign in
Britain, France, Italy and Germany, organizing cultural events and
photo galleries of the attractions in it.

Yemen has urged European states to limit warnings over travel to it,
saying it is a partner in the global war against terrorism, the
partnership which requires that the international community help it
boost its economy.

The campaign was the second since 2007.
