OIC SECRETARY GENERAL AFFIRMS CONCERN ON YEMEN SECURITY, STABILITY
SANA'A, Oct. 31 (Saba)- Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Countries (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu confirmed on Saturday concern of the Organization over security and stability of Yemen as it is the security bolt of the region's security and stability.
In a press conference in Sana'a, Ihsanoglu said that the Organization's stance towards Yemen is firm based on the its principles and charter as well as its political decisions which reject violence and confirm self unity and sovereignty of countries.
He noted that it is not possible to talk about international peace away from security of this region, making clear that security and stability of Yemen was the peace point in the Red Sea and the Middle East across the history.
Ihsanoglu re-stated that the OIC will, along with its institutions, support stability and security of Yemen.
He pointed out that his meeting with President Ali Abdullah Saleh primarily focused on the OIC contribution to supporting the displaced people, noting that 11 trucks carrying relief materials will arrive in Yemen soon coming from Jeddah. The OIC will also form a technical team to visit the displaced people's camps to closely get acquainted with their needs, Ihsanoglu added.
He also talked about successes of the Organization in bridging the gaps among the Islamic sects through the historical resolution issued by the OIC in 2005 over equality among sects.
