Relief Committee Appeals for Aid to Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia

Jeddah, November 01, SPA -- The General Relief Committee, an affiliate of World
Islamic Council for Call and Relief, has appealed to all its members of
humanitarian relief organizations to provide relief aid for peoples affected by
Ketsana hurricanes that recently swept Vietnam, Philippines and Cambodia.


Dr. Adnan bin Khalil Basha, the Secretary-General of International Islamic Relief
Organization (IIRO) and the Committee's Chairman has pointed out that reports
stressed that the hurricanes resulted in the death of 277 people in Philippines,
101 people in Vietnam and 11 people in Cambodia, noting that 1.4 million people
have been affected in Vietnam and 2.5 million people in Philippines.
