Threat letter to Orissa Finance minister
Bhubaneswar, Oct 31 (PTI) A letter purported to have
been sent by Maoists has threatened Orissa's Finance Minister
Prafulla Ghadai, police said Saturday.
"The letter threatened to eliminate the finance
minister and trigger a blast at IDCO Tower of the Industries
department," a police officer said here.
According to Industrial Infrastructure Development
Corporation (IDCO) authorities, the letter was hand delivered
on Tuesday and bore the signature of a Maoist leader.
"We have already handed over the letter to police," a
senior IDCO official told reporters.
The letter alleged that the state-owned Industrial
Infrastructure Development Corporation provided land to
relatives of Ghadai at "cheap rates" in Jajpur district.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himansu Lal said
the police were investigating the sources of the letter.
The 69-year-old minister has Z-category security. PTI
