16TH GROUP OF BANI HUSHEISH ARMED GANG APPEARS IN COURT
SANA'A, Nov.01 (Saba) - Primary Specialized Penal Court in the
capital Sana'a began on Sunday a trial of the 16th group of Bani
Husheish armed gang, including 8 persons.
In the session presided over by Judge Muhsen Alwan , the court faced
the accused with the indictment and a list of evidences.
The indictment included charges of forming an armed gang for
carrying out collective crimes and plotting plans to kill, bomb and
execute sabotage acts as well as endangering the homeland's security
and stability during the period from 2004 to 2008.
The suspects have prepared the necessary equipment of heavy and
small arms, ammunitions, rockets and grenades and collected funds
for support and prepared means of transport, locations and shields
in Bani Husheish district at Sana'a governorate and around, the
indictment added.
The indictment clarified that those criminal acts resulted in
killing and injuring a number of security forces personnel and
innocent citizens, sabotaging and looting some military equipment.
The court adjourned the proceedings to next Saturday to enable the
prosecution to complete evidences presentation.
This is the 16th group of Bani Husheish armed gang. The gang
includes over 130 persons have begun appearing in court since last
April.
Last Saturday, eight Houthi supporters were sentenced to death and
13 others to 5-12 years in jail after they were convicted of forming
armed gangs that fought the troops last year.
The sentenced on Saturday were of the third and fourth groups.
The verdict comes among a series of rulings delivered this month for
the subversive groups charged with supporting the north-based
insurgency.
About 20 Houthi suspects have been sentenced to death and more than
25 subversives to jail terms ranging from 5 to 15 years.
In July, Yemen handed down death sentences to ten subversives after
they were found guilty of forming armed gangs and fighting the
troops in support for the Houthis.
