Chilean, Peruvian presidents to visit Seoul next week

SEOUL, Nov. 2 (Yonhap) -- Chilean President Michelle Bachelet and Peruvian
President Alan Garcia will visit Seoul next week for separate summit talks with
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Seoul's presidential office said Monday.
Bachelet will arrive in Seoul on Nov. 10 for a three-day visit.

She will have
summit talks with Lee the following day to evaluate progresses of the Korea-Chile
free trade agreement (FTA) that took effect in 2004 and discuss economic
cooperation in energy, resources and cultural and human exchange, said the
office.
Garcia will also make a two-day visit to Seoul starting on Nov. 11. He will meet
with Lee on Nov. 12 to discuss ways to accelerate bilateral FTA negotiations and
bolster South Korean companies' investment in the resource-rich South American
nation, the office said.
South Korea and Peru last year agreed to launch FTA negotiations and have since
held four rounds of talks.
While in Seoul, both Bachelet and Garcia are planning to participate in the
high-level Forum on Korea and Latin American Countries Partnership slated to take
place Nov. 10-11 in Seoul, the office added.
