YEMEN, UNDP DISCUSS ALLEVIATING DISPLACED PEOPLE SUFFERING
SANA'A, Nov. 02 (Saba) - Minister of Public Health and Population
Abdul-Karim Rase'a discussed here on Monday with the resident
representative of UNDP Pratibha Mehta the cooperation to receive and
provide shelter for the displaced people of Saada.
The meeting dealt with the future plan to cover the displaced
people's requests, which was prepared by the UN's bodies after the
visit of the U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs
and Emergency Relief Coordinator John Holmes to Yemen early on
October.
After his inspection visit to the Mizraq refugee camp, Holmes has
called on the international community and donors to provide more aid
for the affected people of Sa'ada, pointing to a previous urgent
appeal to provide $ 23 million in aid for over 150.000 people
affected by Yemen conflict.
The U.N. Emergency Fund allocated this year more than $ 7 million
for Yemen to cope with its problems, according to Holmes.
Holmes visit to Yemen aimed to draw the world's attention to the
humanitarian situation in the country amid persistent confrontations
between the army and insurgents in Saada and Amran that started in
August.
