PM returns to his alma mater to preside over convocation

PM LD VISIT

Chandigarh, Nov 2 (PTI) More than half a century after
completing his post-graduation, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh will return to his alma mater--Panjab University--to be
the chief guest at its convocation here Tuesday.

77-year-old Singh, who did his BA and MA in Economics
from the University in 1952 and 1954 and became its professor
at the age of 32, will have another feather added to his cap
when the institution confers on him an honorary doctorate
degree in law.
During his day-long visit to the union territory, Singh
will also be the chief guest at the convocation of the
Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research
(PGIMER) here and inaugurate the Advanced Cardiac Centre.
An annual convocation of Panjab University had already
been held in March 2009 but the authorities have scheduled a
second convocation in a year. PTI VJ
