Seoul stocks open slightly higher on U.S. gains


SEOUL, Nov. 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened slightly higher Tuesday,
tracking overnight gains in U.S. markets, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 2.82 points, or
0.18 percent, to 1,561.91 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. shares gathered ground Monday on upbeat economic data and Ford's
stronger-than-expected earnings in the third quarter, with the Dow Jones
industrial average advancing 0.79 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,179.7 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
up 2.8 won from Monday' close.
