KEPCO swings to black in Q3

SEOUL, Nov. 3 (Yonhap) -- Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), South Korea's state
power company, said Tuesday it returned to profit in the third quarter thanks to
decreased fuel costs and higher rates.

Net profit reached 931 billion won (US$790.3 million) in the July-September
period, compared with a net loss 325 billion won a year ago, the company said in
a regulatory filing.
Revenue rose 10 percent on-year to 9.33 trillion won and the company recorded an
operating profit of 1.61 trillion won, compared with an operating loss of 365.7
billion won.
Shares of KEPCO fell 0.15 percent to 33,510 won as of 10:38 a.m. on the Seoul
bourse.
