INABLUES TO STAGE INT`L FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY

Jakarta, Nov 3 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Blues Association (InaBlues) is to organize a Jakarta International Blues Festival (JIBF) at the Istora Senayan on November 7, a member of the event's organizing committee said.

The performance will begin at 12:30 (Indonesian time) and last for 11 hours.

"We expect this year's audience will be greater in number since the committee has invited musicians three times the number that took part in n last year's festival," InaBlues chairman Odink Nasution said here on Tuesday.

Taking the theme "Back to the Root of All Music", the festival festival will present 40 bands from both home and abroad.

Odink said the festival could also be called "The Fruit of Blues" since it would feature music genres derived from blues namely pop, rock, jazz, r&b, hip hop and rock 'n' roll.

Among musicians to take part in the festival are Gugun & Blues Shelter, Blues Train, Kiboud Maulana, Gigi, The Dance Company, Endah and Resha, The Changcutters, and several foreign musicians from England, United States, Australia, Germany , Ireland, Thailand and Singapore.

"Jan Akkerman, Mike Wilgar, Kara Grainger are among the foreign musicians to perform in this year's JIBF," said Odink adding the organizing committee would provide four stages for all performances, bearing the names Bluestage, Greenstage, Redstage and Blackstage.

To warm up the public for the event, the organizing committee would hold several mini concerts at several spots in Jakarta, namely at the HardRock cafe on November 4, at the Black Cat cafe of Arcadia Plaza on November 5, and at the Margo City Depok on November 6. ***
