AGO YET TO DROP ANTI-GRAFT LEADERS` CASE

Jakarta, Nov 3 (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office has yet to drop the case of suspended Corruption Eradication Commission's deputies although the Constitutional Court (MK) has listened to wiretapped recordings on an alleged plot to frame the commission.

"The 'ball' is still at the police headquarters, not at the attorney general's office," Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Marwan Effendy, said here on Tuesday.

Police have detained Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)'s commissioners Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra Chamzah at the Police's Mobile Brigage headquarters in Kelapa Dua since Friday (Nov. 10).

Bibit and Chandra have been named suspects and later detained by the police for allegedly having abused their power and conducted extortion.

Effendy said that the two suspended KPK deputies' dossiers were still being examined by the prosecutors.

"Please be patient, they are still examining the dossiers," he said.

Previously, the junior attorney general said the KPK deputies were still charged under articles on abuse of power and extortion.

"Both are charged under the articles on abuse of authority and extortion," he said.

On Tuesday, the MK listened to a wiretapped recording of conversations between Anggodo Widjojo and several parties which was allegedly an effort to bribe, frame and undermine the KPK leaders.***
