CALLS FOR RESIGNATION OF LAW ENFORCERS MUST BE PROPORTIONAL
Jakarta, Nov 4 (ANTARA) - Demands for the resignation of law enforcers such as the police chief and the attorney general must be made based on proportional facts and data, a former spokesman of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) said.
"The wiretapped conversations heard at a Constitutional Court (MK) session on Tuesday were personal in nature. It did not involve the institutions," Suhandoyo, former head of the AGO's public information division, said.
In the tapped conversation recordings, which indicated a plot to frame the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and were heard at the MK session, the names of several police and attorney general's office officials were mentioned.
He said that if the officials resigned it would not solve the problem.
But Suhandoyo also said that all of those mentioned in the recordings should introspect. "All sides mentioned in the recordings such as the KPK investigators, police and prosecutors must do some introspection and make clarifications," he said.
He said that everything in the case must be done proportionally and carefully. "This is a law-abiding nation, a democratic country where problems always must be solved through certain processes. There should be no a sudden call for the resignations of officials (mentioned in the tapped conversations)," he said.
