AMBUSH KILLS 5 POLICEMEN IN EASTERN YEMEN
HADRAMOUT, Nov. 04 (Saba) - Five policemen were killed on Tuesday
when gunmen ambushed two cars carrying them in Yemen's eastern
province of Hadramout, the state-run 26sep.net reported.
The killed included two officers identified as the police chief in
the Hadramout Wadi Ahmed Salim Al-Amri and head of the Political
Security Office in Sayoon city and two of their guards as well as
head of the Criminal Investigative Department in the Qaten district.
The cars came under a hail of bullets while they were on their way
back from a border crossing trip. Amid the attack the cars collided
with a truck passing in the road and were entirely burned.
The bodies were badly burnt as well.
A hunt was launched for the perpetrators.
None has been blamed nor claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
On the other hand, an officer has been killed as police released a
child who was snatched by tribesmen in Hadramout.
Security sources said some people of the Al Fegas tribe took
Mohammed Abdullah Sheikh al-Shatri in the district of Hegr.
Security patrols were dispatched to release the child and as they
arrived in the area they came under a shower of bullets by the
kidnappers with Major. Mohamed Saleh Soroor killed.
Police surrounded the area, released the child and arrested some of
the suspects.
