QAEDA BEHIND HADRAMOUT ATTACK

SANA'A, Nov. 05 (Saba) - A Yemeni top security official has said
that al-Qaeda was behind Tuesday's attack against policemen in the
eastern province of Hadramout, the state-run 26sep.net reported on
Thursday.

The attack was not a traffic accident, rather than a successful
assassination killing two police chiefs and three of their guards,
chief of the Political Security in the province Abdullah al-Julaiz'a
said.

Doubtless, al-Qaeda carried out the attack because the organization
is known for such attacks against security officials and facilities
in the country, he confirmed.

The remarks come as the investigation into the attack which took
place in the district of al-Abr while the policemen were back from a
border crossing trip is continuing.

A security cordon has been imposed in the area after the
perpetrators ran away towards Sayoon city on the way to the
neighboring province of Shabwa.

On Tuesday noon, gunmen ambushed the two cars carrying police chief
in the Hadramout Valley and Desert Major General Ali Salim al-Amri
and chief of the branch of the Central Organization of the Political
Security Gen. Ahmed BaWazeer and three of their guards.

The five were killed and their bodies were burned when the cars
collided with a truck in the ambush site after they came under a
hail of bullets.
