PRESIDENT ASKS CABINET MINISTERS TO WORK EXTRA HARD

Jakarta, Nov 5 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked all cabinet ministers to work "around the clock or so hard that you eventually feel you are always short of time."
"You have worked with me in the cabinet for about two weeks. For the ministers who have just worked with me for more than 60 percent, you may feel you are short of time but it is a good sign you are working hard," President Yudhoyono said at a plenary cabinet session at his office.

The president said he had heard that cabinet ministers were very busy, and some of them even started working at seven in the morning because they were afraid their agenda at noon would be even tighter.

"Please work hard, even until after late at night. Last night, ministers were with me until 11 p.m., and that's why you have to be strong and even try to be stronger, But you also have to balance your tight schedule with regular exercise," the president said.

The head of state also asked his ministers to remain strong and patient in carrying out their tasks over the next five years.

"It is your reasonable service, and I ask the minister/state secretary to regulate if in a year some of the ministers will take their short leave, but their cellular phones should remain active," the president said.

Present at the cabinet meeting were all United Indonesia Cabinet II ministers, including Vice President Boediono, National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief Gen Djoko Santoso, National Police Chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri, Attorney General Hendarman Supandji, State Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief Sutanto, and State Official for Presidential Unit for the Management of Reform Programs Kuntoro
Mangkusubroto.

Earlier, on Wednesday evening, the president also chaired a meeting with coordinating ministers and a number of ministers to put the first 100-day working program and five-year program of United Indonesia Cabinet II on a solid footing.

After the meeting on Wednesday, Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Radjasa said President Yudhoyono discussed with the ministers proposals that were tabled at the recent National Summit and to integrate them into a national action plan.***
