HOUSE TO QUESTION POLICE CHIEF ABOUT SUSNO`S RESIGNATION

Jakarta, Nov 5 (ANTARA) - The House Commission III for legal affairs will ask National Police Chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri about the reasons behind the resignation of the Police's chief detective, Susno Duaji, a commission member aid.

"We will ask about the matter in a hearing with the national police chief tonight," Commission III member Bambang Soesatyo said here on Thursday.

Based on its schedule, the House Commission III would hold a hearing with the police chief Thursday night beginning at 7 pm.

The head of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), Commissioner General Susno Duaji, had submitted a request to resign from his position, National Police Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri said earlier on Thursday.

"Susno is not suspended from his position. He himself asked to be relieved from his current job," said Hendarso without saying when exactly Susno made the request and his reasons for doing so.

Susno's resignation follows a growing public clamor for his suspension due to his alleged involvement in a plot to frame two KPK deputy chiefs.

Demands for Susno's suspension climaxed after a recording of telephone conversations between businessman Anggodo Widjojo, younger brother of corruption suspect Anggoro Widjojo, and certain police and public prosecutors were played in a session of the Constitutional Court on Tuesday.***
