TPF MUST FOCUS ON DUAJI, RITONGA : RIGHTS BODY
Jakarta, Nov 5 (ANTARA) - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) said the Fact-Finding Team (TPF) must in its investigation focus on Commissioner General Susno Duaji and Abdul Hakim Ritonga.
"The independent team must give priority to Duaji and Ritonga in its investigation," Nukholis of the monitoring and investigation sub-commission of Komnas HAM, said here on Thursday.
Susno Duaji is the chief of the Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) who resigned on Thursday in connection with wiretapped conversations which suggested the existence of a plot to frame Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies.
The name of Ritonga was also mentioned in the bugged conversations between businessman Anggodo Widjojo and a number of law enforcers. A recording of the tapped talks was replayed at a session of the Constitutional Court (MK) on Tuesday.
Nurkholis said the independent team, if it focussed on Duaji and Ritonga, would obtain a lot of information with regard to the alleged fabrication of the case of suspended KPK commissioners Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra Chamzah.
Police on Tuesday (Sept. 15, 2009) named KPK vice chairmen Chandra M Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto suspects and later detained them on bribery, abuse of authority and extortion charges.
They were alleged to have abused authority with regard to the issuance of a travel ban on businessman Anggoro Widjojo, director of
PT Masaro Radiokom.
In the meantime, the KPK had bugged several conversations between Anggodo and several law enforcers which indicated the existence of a plot to frame the two KPK leaders.
With regard to Duaji's and Ritonga's resignation, the Komnas HAM official said it would make it easier for the TPF to carry out its tasks.
The TPF was formed by the president to verify the legal facts and the process of the KPK deputies' case.***
