BIBIT-CHANDRA'S DETENTION DEFERMENT IN LINE WITH CRIMINAL CODE : POLICE CHIEF

Jakarta, Nov 6 (ANTARA) - National Police Chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri said the police's decision to defer the detention of suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chiefs Bibit Rianto and Chandra Hamzah was in line with the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"The deferment of Bibit and Chandra's detention is in line with KUHP," Hendarso said at a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission III here on Thursday night.

He admitted that before the deferment, there were rumors about possible protest rallies outside the National Police Headquarters.

"We decided to defer their detention for the sake of a greater interest, but it was also in accordance with the Criminal Code," the national police chief said.

Meanwhile, head of National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit Susno Duadji gave clarification before the House's Commission III about allegations that he had received Rp10 billion in the Bank Century case.

"I would like to use this forum to clarify to my children, wife, grand-children, family and relatives who have bcome depressed by what I have done," Susno Duadji said.

He admitted that because of the issue, his wife isolated herself at home and did not dare to go out of the house.

"Never did I receive Rp10 billion whatsoever in the Bank Century case," Susno said, adding that he had twice come to the KPK office to clarify the matter and offer to be questioned.

"I have taken my complaint to my institution, to the KPK, and even to God and asked Him just to take my life," he added.***4***
