Seoul shares open higher on U.S. gains

SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started higher Monday, taking a cue
from Friday's gains in U.S. markets, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched up 5.21 points, or
0.33 percent, to 1,577.67 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. markets closed higher Friday, despite a disappointing job report. The Dow
Jones industrial average rose 0.17 percent and the tech-laden Nasdaq composite
index added 0.34 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,163.85 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., up 4.15 won from Friday's close.
