Yonhap signs video news MOUs with Korean-American TV stations

SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Yonhap) -- Yonhap News Agency on Monday signed memoranda of
understanding with members of the Korean-American televisions association on
expanding cooperation and exchanges of video news content.
Yonhap, South Korea's key news agency, and five TV television channels run by
Korean-Americans, including Washington State-based KOAM TV and San Diego-based
KTSD TV, signed separate MOUs in a ceremony held at Yonhap's headquarters in
Seoul, agreeing to exchange video news content.
Seven other TV stations run by overseas Koreans, including WK TV in Washington
D.C., KABC in Philadelphia, KTN TV in Atlanta, ALL TV in Canada and TAN, a
satellite broadcasting covering the entire North and South America, are also
planning to sign similar MOUs with Yonhap, company officials said.
"The partnership between Yonhap and overseas Korean televisions is expected to
create enormous synergy, paving the ground for cooperation in image marketing and
other joint projects in addition to the exchanges of contents," said Benjamin
Yoo, head of the association who attended the signing ceremony. "We're pleased to
convey South Korea's latest news to overseas Koreans through Yonhap, as well as
to deliver up-to-date news on overseas Koreans to people at home in South Korea."
Yonhap, which currently offers a web-based news program that runs for nine hours
per day, is seeking to obtain a government license to launch an all-news cable
television channel.
