Yeonggwang nuclear power plant resumes operation

YEONGGWANG, South Korea, Nov. 9 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean nuclear power plant
that was taken offline for repairs last month has been reactivated, its operator
said Monday.
Nuclear power plant No. 4 in Yeonggwang, about 320km southwest of Seoul, was shut
down Oct. 24. The regional unit of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. said operation
resumed as normal at 7:33 p.m. on Saturday after two nuclear fuel rods were
replaced.
The plant was shut down when technicians detected damage to the fuel rods on Oct.
10 and 13 during regular maintenance checkups.
The operator said it was investigating the exact cause of the damage.
