Health Standard Strategy for fishery sector readied

SANA'A, Nov. 09 (Saba) - The
Fishery Exportation Association will announce the strategy for health standards in
the fishery
sector today.
The association has organized a discussion to announce the proposed health
standards in cooperation with the World Trade Organization and under the auspices
of the Fisheries
Ministry.
Secretary general of the association Ali al-Habashi said that the standards are
the outcome of two-year efforts to prepare the strategy with specialized
international experts.
The strategy includes developing health standards, fishery stores, quality
supervision, lab inspections, and food safety regulations.
He also expected that the application of the new strategy will make a specific
step in boosting the contribution of the sector to the national economy as well
as enhancing
the exportation volumes to the world markets.
The discussion comes as conclusion of the project for improving capacities to
guarantee the quality and safety of the fish products.
Al-Habashi said recommendations over the strategy would be put forward to the
ministry and wishes they are executed to sector in particular and the country in
general.
