POLICE URGED TO ISSUE SP3 ON SUSPENDED KPK CHIEFS
Surabaya, E Java, Nov 10 (ANTARA) - The national police have been urged to issue a Warrant Termination of Investigation (SP3) in a case involving the suspended Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK deputy chiefs, Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra M. Hamzah.
"The proof of the case is very weak, (it) cannot be imposed so that the police have to issue SP3," Chairman of the Surabaya Legal Aid Institute (LBH), M. Saiful Aris said here Tuesday.
The insistence that the police issue the SP3 as a follow-up on the Team Eight recommendation stating that Bibit and Chandra legal cases do not have sufficient evidence on charges of extortion or bribery case since the flow of money was off on the delivery of money from Anggodo Widjojo to Ary Anggodo Muladi.
"Police must act objectively because they should not only put forward the legal aspects in this case, but must follow the growing dynamics of the community," Aris said.
Due to the growing dynamics of the community, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono formed the Team Eight to investigate and verify the allegations of engineering Bibibt and Chandra as suspects.
"The president should also have ordered the police and prosecutors to issue the SP3 after studying the Team Eight recommendations and the growing dynamics of the community," he said.
Sharing the statement, coordinator of Res Publika association, Athoillah said "There is no legal barriers for the police to issue the SP3 in the case," he said.
According to him, Bibit and Chandra should have deservedly returned to lead the KPK because the rules of sanctions as stated in Article 32 of Law No. 30 of 2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission is not fulfilled.
"Meanwhile, the designated leaders based on the regulation (Presidential Regulation in Lieu of Law) are still able to assist the Commission," he added.
