Seoul shares open higher on tech, bank gains
SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started sharply higher Wednesday
as investors snapped up tech blue chips and bank shares, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 7.04 points, or
0.44 percent, to 1,589.34 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Flat-panel giant LG Display rose 1.02 percent and No. 2 financial services
company Shinhan Financial Group climbed 1.71 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,160.25 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., up 1.95 won from Tuesday's close.
