SOME 73 LEGISLATORS PROPOSE HOUSE INQUIRY INTO BANK CENTURY CASE
Jakarta, Nov 11 (ANTARA) - Some 73 legislators from seven factions at the House of Representatives (DPR) have signed a proposal for a House inquiry into Bank Century case.
"Only two factions are not represented in the initiative to exercise the House inquiry right on the Bank Century case but we hope they will be eventually," Gayus Lumbuun of the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI-P) faction at the DPR said at the legislative building here on Wednesday.
He said the 73 House members who had signed the proposal for a House inquiry into the Bank Century case were from the PDI-P, Golkar Party, United Development Party , National Awakening Party, People's Conscience Party , Greater Indonesia Movement Party , and Prosperous Justice Party factions.
The two factions that had yet to be represented in the initiative were the Democrat Party (PD) and National Mandate Party (PAN) factions.
Gayus said with a total of 73 House members have given their signature, the proposal for a House inquiry into the Bank Century case had exceeded the minimum of 25 supporting House members required for it to be further pursued.
"The proposal for a House inquiry into the Bank Century case will soon be submitted to the House leadership , and we hope it will subsequently be discussed in the House's Consultative Body (Bamus) next week," Gayus said.
Meanwhile, another PDIP House member, Eva Sundari, said that before the proposal was submitted to the House leadership, the internal team of PDI-P faction would hold a coordination meeting at 17:00 on Wednesday afternoon.
The internal team of the PDI-P faction is made up of among others Gayus Lumbuun of House Commission III, Effendy Simbolon of Commission VI, Maruarar Sirait of Commission XI, and Eva Sundari of Commission XI.
Eva said the disclosure of Bank Century case which had inflicted a loss of around Rp6.7 trillion on the state was not intended to find fault with any individual or institution.
