18-city mega French festival 'Bonjour India' from next month
New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI) Signifying growing warmth in
ties, France will launch a 18-city mega festival "Bonjour
India" next month to celebrate 200 years of Indo-French
friendship and create a platform for long term collaborations
in diverse fields.
The festival will focus on a number of themes like
innovation, diversity, heritage and environment.
"The festival aspires to provide a better
understanding and visibility of France in India. It is a
platform to promote an effective and regular dialogue between
India and France," said French Ambassador Jerome Bonnafont.
Over 100 events including art exhibitions, concerts,
literary meets, street shows, film screenings, food festivals
and scientific exchanges are scheduled for the two-month-long
festival featuring 250 artistes, researchers and entrepreneurs
from France.
The festival will be held in prominent cities and
towns in India from December to February.
The festival will also have collection from the famous
Albert Kahn Museum in France featuring India at the beginning
of the 20th century and into the 1920s. Kahn, a friend of
Rabindranath Tagore, sent two operators to document India in
coloured autochromes and black and white films. They were to
capture daily Indian life as well as that of maharajas. The
result is an amazing testimony of the India that existed in a
century ago.
The rare collection will be part of a series of
exhibitions. MORE PTI MPB
