President for joint action by countries against terrorism
New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI) Indian President Pratibha Patil
Wednesday favoured international cooperation and joint action
to deal with terrorism, which has become a global menace.
In an interaction with envoys of five nations here
Wednesday, the President said, "The international community
should come together and speak in one voice and take action".
Patil also said there were many lessons that could be
learnt from the financial and economic crisis that had
affected the world almost a year ago.
"Some of these were the need to have sound principles of
financial governance and making multilateral financial
institutions more inclusive to reflect the realities of
today," she said.
Five envoys -- Julio De La Guardia Arrocha, the
Ambassador of Panama, Genaro Vicente Pappalardo Ayala, the
Ambassador of Paraguay, Jovan Mirilovic, the Ambassador of
Serbia, Thomas Matussek, the Ambassador of Germany and
Gudmundur Eiriksson, the Ambassador of Iceland -- presented
their credentials to the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In her interaction with the heads of the Missions, the
President said India is a growing economy and "there are many
fields in which it can work with other countries".
The credential presentation ceremony was attended by
senior members of the Missions, senior officials of the
Ministry of External Affairs and Rashtrapati Bhavan. PTI AKV
