Dalai Lama offers prayers at Tawang monastery
Tawang, Nov 12 (PTI) Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai
Lama Thursday offered prayers at the 500-year-old Tawang
monastery on the last day of his four-day visit here in
India's northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.
He offered prayers at 'Duthang', the main prayer hall,
at the monastery.
The spiritual leader later planted a sapling in Tawang
House, the District Deputy Commissioner's bungalow, where he
had earlier taken rest in 1959 when he fled from Tibet.
The Dalai Lama laid the foundation of a hostel building
at the 'Manjushree Vidyapeeth', a home for destitute children.
He then left for Dirang where he will attend a prayer
meeting before leaving for Bomdila from where he flies back to
Itanagar Friday. PTI SB
