WHIRLWIND DAMAGES 104 HOUSES IN W JAVA
West Java, Nov 12 (ANTARA) - Whirling wind which struck Sindangasih village, Ciamis district, West Java, last Wednesday (Nov 11) had caused damage to hundreds of houses, an official said.
"We noticed that 104 houses were damaged after the disaster," Chief of Sindangasih administration Ahmar said here on Thursday.
Of the 104 damaged homes, Ahmar said, four were seriously ravaged and 100 lightly.
The whirlwind had damaged homes in three parts of the village, namely Cimente (8 houses), Pangarengan (66) and Gunung Damar (30).
Ahmar explained last Wednesday`s whirlwind was the first to hit the area, and caused panic with people frantically leaving their homes for fear that their houses may collapse.
But after the whirlwind stopped the residents returned to their homes for a clean up.
