INDONESIAN STOCKS CLOSE HIGHER ON POSITIVE DOMESTIC SENTIMENT

Jakarta, Nov. 12 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock exchange (BEI) here on Thursday noon closed higher on positive domestic sentiment.

The Indonesian stocks went up 20.34 points or 0.85 percent to 2,424.34 points.

The BEI index surge to over Rp2,400 happened thanks to domestic factors, Krisna Dwi Setiawan, an analyst of PT Valbury Asia Securities, said.

"It`s not a surprise any longer that share trading became active again when the positive sentiment approaches Bakrie Group shares," he said.

Another factor which had bolstered domestic stocks was the decision of the Federal Reserve to maintain its low interest rate, he said.

Among top gainers at the BEI were Indo Tambangraya (ITMG) shares that surged Rp 450 to Rp 25,050, Telkom (TLKM) shares that went up Rp 100 to Rp 8,850, Adaro (ADRO) shares that rose Rp 80 to Rp 1,630.

The BEI recorded 64,038 transactions, with a total volume of 3.940 billion shares worth Rp3.327 trillion. A total of 79 shares advanced, 81 lost and 59 remained static.

In morning trading, the BEI index opened 18.148 points or 0.75 percent higher to 2,422,660 points, and the LQ-45 index surged 4.29 points or 0.92 percent to 476,698 points.
