RI SHARES NEW PARADIGM OF BALANCED GROWTH WITH APEC

Singapore, Nov 13 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono shared main principles in the new paradigm of Indonesia's balanced economic growth with some 500 business leaders at the APEC CEO Summit here on Friday.

"The vision of my new government in the five years ahead is to achieve balanced, inclusive and sustainable economic growth. We have already adopted this in our national programs," he said.

President Yudhoyono said Indonesia had taken five steps to achieve the growth while at the same time ensuring balanced and inclusive growth.

"First, we will continue to build confidence in the govenment. This means that we will continue and improve our bureaucratic reforms," he said.

The second one was ensuring a condusive investment climate. The government would continue to pursue smooth investment procedures, implement one-stop investment services, and ensure a conducive business climate, he said.

"Third, we are paying attention to infrastructure development. The urgently needed infrastructure is power plants. The first phase of the construction of power plants with a combined capacity of 10,000 megawatts is underway and we will soon embark on the second phase also with a capacity of 10,000 megawatts," he said.

The fourth one was revitalizing the industrial and agricultural sectors. In the near future, the program would focus on revitalizing sugar mills and fertilizer plants and improving productivity in favor of food resilience, he said.

"In the long run, we will focus on improving our competitive edge in the industrial and food sectors." he said.

The fifth one was inclusive growth. "We have comprehensive programs. Firstly, we will increase guarantee schemes for small and medium business so that they can receive loans of up to Rp20 trillion or US$2 billion per year. Secondly, we will set proper target of subsidy and build effective social safety network," he said.***5***
