AGO TO DECIDE ON CHANDRA'S POLICE DOSSIER MONDAY

Jakarta, Nov 13 (ANTARA) - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is to decide on Monday (Nov 17) whether or not suspended Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Chandra Hamzah's revised police dossier is ready for submission to a court.
"We will decide on the question next Monday," Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Marwan Effendy said here on Friday.

The AGO had received Chandra's latest revised dossier from the police on Thursday (Nov 12) and an AGO team was now restudying it, he said.
Chandra's dossier had been going back and forth between the police and the AGO several times before as every time it had been sent to the prosecutor's headquarters, it was later returned to the police with annotations to fill up elaboration gaps, sharpen certain points or include more evidence (to make it more presentable for the case's trial in court).

Asked which part of Chandra's dossier, the police had elaborated or sharpened this time, Marwan said it was that on the relationship between Ary Muladi (suspected of extortion or embezzlement) and certain individuals in KPK.

He denied a suggestion that the date for the AGO's decision on Chandra's police dossier had been set to coincide with the submission of the Fact-finding Team (TPF)'s recommendations to the president.

"We don't take our cues from the TPF. For criminal cases, we refer to the mechanism prescribed in the Criminal Code and the anti-corruption (Tipikor) law. The TPF's recommendations are not binding," he said.

About the police dossier of another suspended KPK deputy chief, Bibit S Rianto, Marwan said it was now still being studied by an AGO team but expected to be returned to the police for improvement soon.

Police have charged both Chandra and Bibit with abuse of authority and receiving bribes in a case involving businessman Anggoro Widjojo whom the KPK was investigating for corruption in the procurement of a radio communication system for the forestry ministry.
